Sideshow 05:13
i'm tapping my shoe, towards the back of the queue still watching from the sidelines, scared to make a move how long will you be? are you listening to me? I'm not taking any orders from a fool like you the word escapes, the story breaks you can't deny that all of it is true some 60's soul, some 50's rock'n'roll steal a riff from a dead man, claim it as your own arrive to find the contract signed we sent him crawling back into his pond so tell me more, the same as before the laughter is escaping from the can if you're so individual, why are your tastes the same as all the other individual people out there? if you're so individual, why are your tastes the same as all the other individual people out there? so have mercy on me, and my family we only roam around the fringes doing nothing wrong the world awakes, the truth escapes the breakfast show-off crackles through the dawn enter a naught

i'll miss you when you're gone i'll miss you every day back-tracking on the things i never got to say it's time for being strong surviving, holding on i'll miss you when you're gone i never got the chance, the chance to say goodbye you side stepped out of sight, and faded from my life you faded into dust move on from here i must i'll miss you when you're gone it sometimes takes a lifetime to discover that some pretend, but no one knows the answer you've got to ride the tide before you reach the shore you've got to ride the tide before you reach the shore i'll miss you when you're gone of that there is no doubt the autumn winds may blow my windows inside out i'll ache all winter long, till springtime follows on i'll miss you when you're gone it sometimes takes a lifetime to discover that some pretend, but no one knows the answer you've got to ride the tide before you reach the shore you've got to ride the tide before you reach the shore you've got to ride the tide before you reach the shore you've got to ride the tide before you reach the shore

for the heavy hearted, there's no new signs for the undecided, the 'borderlines' the biggest bummer, the twisted plot would someone tell me, how long i've got don't say that nothing to lose is the same as nothing to live for 'there's nothing more we can do' am i so greedy to want more? If you can do everything right you can make it to the land of the living and the 24 panels of light the road is rocky, the toll's unkind it's crazy-paving, for the colourblind i never dreamed this, would be so hard i've played my latest, denial card don't say that nothing to lose is the same as nothing to live for 'there's nothing more we can do' am i so greedy to want more? If you can do everything right you can make it to the land of the living and the 24 panels of light can you break a rule for the sane without a lightning bolt to the brain? have you already had your happiest day? if you blink you've missed it, you've had your time it's never easy to cross that line so count your blessings, subtract your sins no harps, no bugle, no violins seasons greetings, we wish you well we know you're having the night from hell it'll soon be over, relief will come so tell me gently and i'll play it dumb you'll do well to ignore the question mark on the clipboard born with nothing to lose, die with nothing to live for for one or two hours a night you can make it to the land of the living and the 24 panels of light

what happens next? should we try again?..once more? i know what happens next i've seen it all before the last thing i need is some predictable replay i know i make mistakes i make a new one every day forget you and rewind erase you from my mind you won't break me you won't break me i won't let you tear me apart you promised me forever you promised me everything yet it started out in summer and it ended early spring and though you walk between the raindrops now i can't wait until the day arrives when you will surely drown it's so easy to rewind erase you from my mind you won't break me you won't break me i won't let you tear me apart I don't second guess, i know how it will be you're busy being you and i'm busy being me go on and tell me that it's over you won't break me you won't break me i won't let you tear me apart where are you now? do i really want to know? there's things i'd like to tell you but it's time to let it go i know you don't like to do things face to face so as i left i placed a note inside your favourite pillow case forget you and rewind erase you from my mind you won't break me x2 i won't let you tear me x2 you won't break me x2 i won't let you tear me i won't let you tear me apart

oh my love, we could try to talk it through oh my love, but what good would talking do? oh my love, if you think it's time to move on, my love, i won't be begging you now that i know that i'm not what you want now that i know that i'm not what you need it seems that everybody else in this whole world knows you might have tried telling me oh my love, you know me better than myself oh my love, you know me well enough to tell oh my love, we could try to talk it through oh my love, but talking's all we ever do now that i know that i'm not what you want now that i know that i'm not what you need it seems that everybody else in this whole world knows you might have tried telling me oh my love, does this mean that i'm no longer sure? no my love, it just means i'm about to close this door tomorrow is sunday, and there'll be silence around my thoughts forget about monday, monday's the day that time forgot oh my love, we could try to make it through oh my love, we'd only be 'making do' i let my mind drift away to a distant day those were better days by far now when you're sitting by my side, you look so lost sometimes i think i don't know where you are oh my love, does this mean that i'm no longer sure? no my love, it just means i'm about to close this door

i heard about the crash and the big divorce and the rumour that you choked on the second course are you third time lucky? are you four times blue? will you ever find the one who measures up to you? you take take take,'til it's time to run you don't owe anything to anyone you worry out loud about us losing touch you'll always be my friend because you know too much we'd better meet up soon or it's never going to happen the song fades out and the scene is set for the homecoming bit that he won't forget he's always got a theory or a plan to hatch a crisis brewing and a plane to catch the seconds tock and the seconds tick you're never at home, it's a clever trick way back then it was all so fake i could never be myself with so much at stake we'd better meet up soon or it's never going to happen do i look familiar? my name would be nice.. eye the family silver you won't refuse it twice the one in the showroom is yours at a price..a special price! we'd better wake up soon, or it's never gonna happen you take take take 'til it's time to run you don't owe anything to anyone trample over everyone who helps you out the music don't matter it's the clothes that count you'd better wake up soon or you're never gonna happen we'd better wake up soon, or it's never gonna happen

i don't have a lot of time for the zealot and the bigot the meddler and the crook i've never seen an answer in any sacred book i won't reconsider it's not worth a second look i don't have a lot of time i can't see the things you see i don't know what you want from me i can't believe in something that i have never seen sinner, saint then sinner there is no in between for the blinkered and the bitter the orange and the green i don't have a lot of time i don't have a lot of time for the inquisitive inspector who then turns the other cheek the sullen chief objector who's too afraid to speak for the narrow minded teacher who tries to steer the weak i don't have a lot of time

Blowbacks and bongs, kicking back, trading songs In a bedsit in a humble part of town Long afternoons, singing long lost tunes If only we had taken time to nail them down We didn't stay in touch like we said we would Maybe I could have done more, it's true A lone star shining brightly in a sinister sky Is how I always will remember you Im always amazed by your flair on the green baize You always hold your nerve to see it out In sticky situations, intense complications You'll save the day, it never was in doubt Yours is the number that i'd always call If my life was on the line On more than one of my crashes You picked up my pieces, You'll always be a friend of mine Through all of the good days, those heartbreaking sad days You've always been a friend of mine Do me a favour, pass this message on Tell your sister i'm doing fine She was there at the start, and lives on in my heart And she'll always be a friend of mine Motorway madness, frustration and sadness As time began to steal what could have been Busted guitars, one too many jaded bars In the best band that nobody's ever seen My thoughts drift back I hear a ringing chord That gets me each and every time To everybody in the band, let me shake you by the hand You will always be a friend of mine It's cold and empty on this stage, though now we're on a different page You will always be a friend of mine And through every mistake that we've watched each other make You will always be a friend of mine

from room to room through echoing hallways soaking it in, remembering always that that's the way she would have wanted it one last look, isn't it pretty a view from above of the shimmering city this is the way I want to remember it albums full of dusty old pictures capturing all of my early adventures bottled up until I can handle it shy smiles, uneasy poses the lens is aimed, the shutter closes just before you can duck out of it in black and white, in 70's colour with so much ahead, healthy and younger remembered the way, she would have wanted it I think of you now, in daydreams and downtime from tentative steps on cobbles and tramlines to throwing your arms around those who needed it shy smiles, uneasy poses the lens is aimed, the shutter closes just before you can duck out of it i've taken the punches of silence and sorrow i've watched and i've learned as the dominos topple i've learned to say goodbye, from room to room through echoing hallways soaking it in, remembering always that that's the way you would have wanted it (i'll always remember the place and the time the place and the time, the place and the time).. if love and love alone could have saved you you'd still be here today
